Who's Leading the Course

Adrienne Fritze (course leader) | Peter Vaughan Shaver (legal) | Bob Sterry (sales & marketing)

Adrienne Fritze started out life as an artist-entrepreneur before reaching the tender age of 10, by creating a lemonade stand that sold - not lemonade - rather Koolaid, popcorn and Creepy Crawler bugs and pencil heads she made herself. She sold out her inventory before NOON, hammering the competition, and was forever hooked on combining her art forms with business. The ultimate expression of this (to date) is Working Artists LLC (WA).

Adrienne came out of the closet as a visual artist and writer in early 2004, and founded WA in May of that same year with two friends, Gary R. Moor and Mark Lysgaard. Taking those 30+ years of learning about and doing business in ventures ranging from mural painting to international advertising, and combining this experience with practices used by other successful entrepreneurs, she developed The Guerilla Exhibitor™ - a business course delivered in a digestable format for artists and creative pros.

She has led 9 courses in the past two years, is delighted to be your course leader over the 12 to 14 weeks of your course, and is thrilled to be joined by Bob Sterry and Peter Shaver, two professional service providers she holds in high esteem.

"When I accepted your invitation to participate in the GX I didn't think it would actually help me do what I needed to do: Create Passion and purpose in my life. I had no idea that the process would actually lead me back into the world of artistic expression. Creating the vision statement had the greatest impact on me, as it showed me that who I am as an artist, is who I am as a person. I am delighted to say that I have begun to paint again, and am evolving as a an artist and spiritual being. Thank you for creating this unique class!"

About Peter's Segment:

Copyrights and contracts are a fact of life in the art business. Understanding federal copyright laws is critical as copyrights are implicated in nearly every contractual agreement that a creative professional will encounter in their business dealings. This unit is geared to provide participants with a firm basis for understanding and protecting the rights to their creative work. The focus will be on building co-operative relationships with other contracting parties while avoiding common dangers in business relationships. The goal of this segment will be to demystify the legal aspects of copyrights and contracts, translating “Legalese” into Plain English, while empowering participants to not shy away from uncomfortable negotiations. We will also discuss simple and powerful hints for negotiating contracts and general guidelines for being more professional and empowered in business relationships. We will first review the basics of copyrights in order to provide a basis for participants to build a contract of their own. We will also review contracts from the ground up, incorporating the most basic elements of all legal agreements into your contract. In conjunction with this exercise, participants will also develop a checklist of common items that can be used in reviewing contracts for problem areas and providing suggestions for equalizing terms.
